A Photo to Spark a Movement: OWS at UC Davis

(photo: Wayne Tilcock/Davis Enterprise; Original is at: http://readersupportednews.org/opinion2/275-42/8485-uc-davis-police-violence-adds-fuel-to-fire)

Two iconic photos defined the horrors of the war against Viet Nam and helped to galvanize the anti-war movment: the photo of a student shot dead by National Guard troops at Kent State, and the summary execution by a South Vietnamese officer of a defenseless POW.

OWS has its picture, of a campus cop getting his jollies off spraying defenseless students who are already prostrate on the ground. Clearly this had nothing to do with preventing violence, protecting the community, or even controlling the students. They were already controlled.

This is the photo that Mayor Bloomberg ought to have on his wall. This is what happens when you unleash thugs against peaceful protestors. This is what it comes to when elected officials refuse to allow dissent.

Mayor Bloomberg goes out of his way to make it possible for the rapacious thieves to go to work every day on Wall Street so that they can continue to rake in billions while destroying America. He keeps the taxis on the roads, allows the executive jets and helicopters to ferry the top 1% to and around Manhattan. He keeps the trains rolling. He sends in the crews to cart off their trash.

But he refuses to find some way to let peaceful protestors say their piece. He won’t allow any amplified sound. He now takes away sleeping bags. No heaters to keep out the cold.

I’m sure that he and his staff sit in their sumptious offices and giggle about the constraints they’ve put on the protestors. They no doubt find humor in the contrast between the way they bend over backward to please the 1% on Wall Street, but confiscate blankets and even burn the books of those who would dare to protest Wall Street’s crimes. Next he’ll probably ban umbrellas, then coats and shoes.

Take another look at the picture. This is the USA nearing the end of 2011.

This is what it’s come to.

The other iconic photo is the lone protestor stopping a column of tanks in Tiananmen Square. It should be the Occupy logo.

We shall overcome.

coach outlet are in so much trend nowadays among women that this business is growing day by day. Potential buyers are increasing due to high quality of leather used in coach factory outlet and purses. Quality of coach outlet online is as fine as butter. If the feel is not like butter then its not coach outlet. Many fake or knock off products are also available in market which looks 100% like coach outlet store online. These products do not have that feel, that original coach product can give to consumer. If you have used coach outlet before then you can easily detect which is coach outlet original and which is knock off coach factory outlet
or purse.

One other thing to point out is that an online business administration course is designed for college students to be able to smoothly proceed to bachelor degree programs. The Ninety credit education meets the lower bachelor college degree requirements and when you earn your associate of arts in BA online, you will have access to the most up-to-date technologies with this field. Several reasons why students want to be able to get their associate degree in business is because they’re interested in this area and want to obtain the general schooling necessary before jumping right bachelor education program. Thanks for the tips you provide as part of your blog.
