Lincoln S. Ellis is Managing Director @ Linn Group, Chief Investment Officer for Strategic Financial Group and Managing Partner for Astor Janssen Partners LP - a global macro hedge fund.
In 2006 Lincoln joined Linn Group to advise on the expansion and direction of the firm’s asset management business. Since 2006 the firm has raised over $35MM in new assets and become know as one of the preeminent grain trading firms in the US. He runs the investment committee for Linn Group's Atlas One LP and serves as a risk manager for the firm's flagship grain product, Linn Hare & Huckabay
In 2008 he teamed with Brad Rathe to being creating Astor Janssen Partners LP, a global macro hedge fund. After 12 months of proprietary trading they launched the fund in Nov of 2009.
In the summer of 2010 Ellis was invited to serve as Chief Investment Officer at the Strategic Financial Group. SFG is a financial planning firm based around a family office structure. They provide tax, accounting and advisory services to families and their businesses - large and small.
Previously, Lincoln was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley & Co., the institutional business of Morgan Stanley, Inc.
Lincoln earned a BA from Valparaiso University and an MA from The Graduate Faculty – New School for Social Research. Deeply committed to the communities in which he has lived, Lincoln is currently the Board Chair for Music In the Loft, a chamber music presenter dedicated to young players and emerging composers. He is also a on the board of the Metropolitan Opera's NAtional Council's Midwest District. On occasion he continues his work with Columbia University’s Columbia International Affairs Online, a database of international politics and economics he founded and created with then Editor-in-Chief, Kate Wittenberg. He also served as a founding member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Associates and President of the Auxiliary Chapter at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
