More on How Turkey Compares With Peers
I don’t know how it happened… I am not sure if it was the really interesting conferences I attended or equally interesting Besiktas games, but somehow I really fell behind blogging during my most recent trip to Istanbul. Anyway, I am back to Marmaris and have quite a bit of catching up to do, so you’ll see a lot of posts from me in the next few days.
I will start with a short addendum to my most recent Hurriyet Daily News column at the blog, where I was looking at how Turkey compares with peers in terms of standard vulnerability indicators.
Emerging Market Musings, one of my favorite blogs, undertook a similar exercise a couple of months ago. And more recently, Deutsche was looking at at how capital flows compare to reserves.
Speaking of the column, you might be wondering of the Sabah conspiracy theory articles I mention in the column. I could not link them at the column, as it is Daily News policy not to have non-English links. The series concludes with an article claiming that Fitch’s owners are members of Opus Dei and Illuminati; that’s the one I refer to in the column. There is even a subtitle called “Fitch’s Code”; an obvious reference to Dan Brown’s “Da Vinci Code“. As one reader was tweeting a few weeks ago, there is a crucial difference between Dan Brown and Sabah Economy team. Dan Brown writes fiction with diligent research. Sabah economy writes fiction as well, but without any research:)…
