Santi Rasanayagam

Santi heads research at Auvest and is involved in the formulation of the firm's investment strategy. He assists the Chief Investment Officer in the asset allocation process and is a member of the investment committee. He has 9 years of international experience in hedge fund investing and research, private equity, corporate finance and equity research.

Previously he was a Vice President at Dubai Group, part of Dubai Holdings and responsible for investments and monitoring the firm's listed and private equity portfolio in Asia Pacific. He was a former Assistant Vice President at Abraaj Capital, a leading regional private equity firm, responsible for analyzing, structuring and monitoring of investments for various Abraaj funds.

Prior to this he worked as an equity analyst with Goldman Sachs in New Zealand with primary responsibility for covering the Real Estate Investment Trust, Manufacturing and Aged Care sectors. He also assisted the lead analysts covering the Infrastructure and Telecom sectors. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New Zealand in the Corporate Finance division and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honors) and Bachelor of Arts at University of Auckland, New Zealand, 1997 – 2001.

Thomas Grennes is a professor of economics at the North Carolina State University and a former visiting faculty member at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. His research has dealt with various aspects of international economics, including open economy macroeconomics, international finance, and international trade in agricultural products. Recent research topics have included macroeconomic aspects of the Great Moderation, offshore outsourcing, sovereign wealth funds, and the relationship between government debt and economic growth. Earlier work dealt with emerging market issues in the Baltic countries and Russia and trade and macro policies in Sub-Saharan Africa. Economic history topics include the Columbian Exchange of plants and animals, the effects on food markets of introducing mechanical refrigeration, and the integration of Tsarist Russia into the world grain market. When he is not involved in economics, he enjoys mountain hiking.
