Richard Iley is Senior Economist for BNP Paribas in New York. Mr. Iley publishes daily research notes, appears on numerous television and radio shows including CNBC and CNN and is quoted frequently. Before moving to New York, Mr. Iley was a member of BNP Paribas’ Market Economics team in London covering both the UK and US economies.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas in July 2003, Mr. Iley spent over six years at ABN AMRO working as their chief UK economist. Before moving to the private sector, he worked at HM Treasury from 1994 to 1996 providing ministerial briefing on the UK and global economies and also working on the Treasury’s first assessment of the implications of EMU. Mr. Iley holds degrees from University College, London and the University of Sussex. With Professor Mervyn Lewis, he is the author of the recently published, ‘Untangling The US Deficit: Evaluating Causes, Cures and Global Imbalances’ (Edward Elgar Press, 2007).
