    Excellently observed. I too believe that people don't listen enough to what Merkel actually says. There is no question that she has the GDR tendency for double speak, but within that is a continual reference to the need for strong fiscal controls. Why the hell would any solvent nation give up control of their currency (and let's face it it is Germany's currency given either the basket-case nature or the lack of scale of the balance of the Eurozone) until it has cast iron guarantees. Meanwhile, southern Europe is saying Nein, nein, nein to austerity, and the global power houses are all in malaise. It doesn't bode well

    let the banks go BUST! nobody has to bail them out, not Ireland and not Germany.
