Editor Pick – What are Credit Investors’ Biggest Concerns?
Weak Economic Activity Moves to the Forefront of Credit Investor Concerns
By Fitch Ratings
“The results of the second Fitch Ratings/Fixed Income Forum Survey of
Senior Investors indicate that investors are less sanguine about credit
market conditions than they were six months ago. Expectations for
higher default rates have risen markedly since mid-2006 amid concerns
about a slowing economy, rising corporate leverage, and the continued
use of funds for shareholder-friendly activities.”
Furthermore: “In absolute terms, however, investors were most concerned about high yield and collateralized debt obligations (CDOs).”

What a difference a week makes!
Last week was all goldilocks and nice. Records all round.
This week is dark and brooding. Credit blowups lurk everywhere. The stagehands seem to be changing the scenery in preparation for the next act.
Efficient market hypothesis ? What a joke. Random walk ? Hardly.
